About the Role
You will advance the brains of our emotional companions by implementing large language models (LLMs) and building intelligent AI agents. This role blends research and engineering—you’ll prototype novel systems while grounding them in psychology, aging, and human–AI interaction. Your work will directly shape how seniors experience warmth, empathy, and connection through AI.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and test conversational AI agents
  • Implement agent frameworks (e.g., reasoning, planning, multi-agent orchestration)
  • Support integration of AI modules with front-end applications and hardware prototypes

Ideal Background

  • Experience with building multi-modal conversational AI
  • Strong programming skills (Python preferred) and comfort with cloud/compute environments
  • Interest in psychology, gerontology, or human–AI interaction
  • Curiosity and creativity in experimenting with new AI agent architectures and techniques

Hybrid role in Pittsburgh, PA. This is an unpaid three month long opportunity.

Please include a 1-3 minute video of you explaining/describing design rationale and showing a demo of a working system (full creation) using any LLM model you can implement. The audience for this will be our co-founder with a lot of technical experience so be as technical as you can!
